La Jolla Beach Bum Shines Light on Government Handouts

Local resident Jason Greenslate was featured on Fox News buying lobster and sushi with food stamps.

Fox News report is bringing a lot of attention to La Jolla. The news station aired an 11-minute special report on 29-year-old Jason Greenslate on August 10. "$200 of free money is radical... why not," he says in the clip.

Greenslate, who attended San Diego State and a technical school, said work is not for him.

“This is the way I want to live and I don’t really see anything changing,” he added.

Fox News aired the special to "exposed the government’s startling attempts to get people to sign up for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program—or food stamps."
