Former Councilman Appointed to CA Transportation Commission

Jim Madaffer, 53, was appointed Monday.

Former San Diego City Councilman Jim Madaffer was appointed by Gov. Jerry Brown on Monday to the California Transportation Commission.

Madaffer, 53, served on the City Council from 2000 to 2008. He currently is involved in public affairs and communications consulting, and operates Mission Publishing Group. He is a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.

His appointment to the commission, which was created in 1978 to establish a single statewide transportation policy, will require Senate confirmation.

Madaffer, who is registered as decline-to-state, would make $100 per diem if confirmed.
