Electronic Speed Warning Signs Turned On

Slow down!

Councilwoman Sherri Lightner turned on two electronic speed warning signs on Torrey Pines Road in La Jolla on Tuesday morning. The electronic warning signs at Amalfi Street and Viking Way post your speed limit if you are driving more than 35 mph. If you are driving the speed limit or less, the solar powered sign will not light up.

The two signs are part of a larger traffic calming effort along Torrey Pines Road.

The two signs were paid for out of District 1's budget. The cost is estimated at $10,000 each sign.
