Early Election Results In: Barnett Up in School Race

Prop. D has 40 percent approval with 20 percent of precincts reporting.

If Proposition D is approved, the city's sales tax would increase by a half-cent for the next five years. Tax would increase from 8.75 percent to 9.25 percent and generate $102 million annually.

Proposition J would generate approximately $50 million in local funds for the San Diego Unified School District through a temporary real estate parcel tax. The temporary five-year tax on parcels in the district would raise funds for education for past and future state budget cuts. The tax would be $98 per single family parcel, $60 for multifamily unit, $450 per commercial or industrial parcel and $98 per vacant parcel.
