Communities Surrounding MCAS Miramar May See Smoke Saturday

Military firefighters will set and monitor several controlled burns Saturday at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar.

The fires, part of routine training regimens at the U.S. Marine Corps. station in northern San Diego, will begin about 10 a.m. and continue for roughly three hours, the base's public-affairs office advised.

People in surrounding communities may see some flames and smoke, but no roadway visibility restrictions or air-quality problems are expected, according to military officials.
