Woman Hit by SUV Hospitalized with Head Injuries
She was hit by an SUV backing into a parking spot on Girard Avenue Friday morning.
A woman was taken to a hospital Friday morning with a serious head injury after she was struck by an SUV as she was crossing Girard Avenue, according to police.
A 20-year-old man was driving a Lexus SUV southbound in the 7400 block of Girard Avenue around 7:30 a.m. when he saw a parking spot and stopped, according to Officer Frank Cali.
As the SUV driver backed up to pull into the spot, a 65-year-old woman crossed Girard Avenue midblock. The woman was hit by the SUV and fell, sustaining a serious head injury, according to Cali. Her condition has not been released.

Police do not suspect alcohol was a factor in the collision and the Traffic Division is investigating.
