UTC Bank Robber Sentenced to 33 Year to Life

Elshire was charged, along with Robert Anthony Hodge and Casey Allen Wilson, with holding up a Wells Fargo branch near La Jolla Village Drive on June 11.

A woman who participated in a failed bank heist in UTC in which an accomplice was shot by a security guard is expected to be sentenced to 33 years to life in prison Friday morning.

Forty-three-year-old Laura Elshire pleaded guilty to robbery and also admitted possessing razor blades while in custody.

Authorities say Elshire was tackled and detained for police by the same guard who shot her accomplice, who was dropped off at a local hospital by yet another accomplice before he fled to Mexico. Both of Elshire's accomplices also pleaded guilty after their arrests at the hospital and in Mexico.
