Update: La Jolla Couple Found Dead; Man Had Plastic Bag Over Head

The San Diego County Medical Examiner reported Friday that the couple's cause of death was still unknown.

A husband and wife were found dead in their La Jolla home Wednesday afternoon after police were asked to check on their welfare by a concerned family member, according to San Diego police.

The couple—an 81-year-old male and a 78-year-old female—was found in their home in the 8700 block of Caminito Sueno, according to police.  Officers found their home secure, and police said there are no outstanding suspects.

Police received a call at approximately 12:18 p.m. from a family member who had become concerned after they could not reach the couple by telephone Wednesday morning. After police found the couple, the Homicide Unit began investigating due to the suspicious nature of their deaths.
