The Orange County Coroner reported that Andy Chau, a freshman at UC San Diego, died Jan. 22 at UC Irvine. Chau, 18, was found dead next to a parking structure.
MyUCIrvine.com reported that in the original injury description, the coroner stated that he "jumped from a parking structure" and that the investigation was still ongoing.
UC San Diego officials said Chau was a physiology and neuroscience sciences.
A tribute video was posted to YouTube the same day of Chau's death. The video had more than 7,000 views by Thursday afternoon.
The description on the video said:
"This guy was the greatest person ever. He always treated everyone the same and was able to put a smile on everyone's face. There is absolutely nothing bad that can be said about Andy, he was in so many ways the perfect guy and the perfect friend. He smiled all the time and everyone loved him and we still do. It is an honor for me to have met him, i enjoyed the few times we hung out together and he will be missed. R.I.P. buddy."
