UCSD Police Release Sketch of Suspect in Attempted Rape Case

An attempted rape was reported on UC San Diego's campus on Friday.

UC San Diego released a composite sketch of the assailant in an attempted rape that occurred early Friday morning.

The incident took place in an on-campus residence at 2 a.m., according to UC San Diego police. The suspect reportedly entered a residence through an unlocked door and assaulted a female, police said. The female struggled with the suspect who then fled through the front door and left in an unknown direction, according to police.

The assailant was described as a white man with a dark complexion and short dark hair. Police said he was approximately 5 foot 9 and 170 to 180 pounds. He was wearing dark baggy pants and a dark thick long sleeve shirt, according to police.

The university sent out an all-campus email and activated its automated IM, voice and email notification system this morning at 4:23 a.m. to inform all students of the crime.
