Torrey Pines Fire Fought by Helicopter, Land

The cause of the fire was under investigation.

Helicopter and hand crews made quick work of a small vegetation fire in a remote area of Torrey Pines early today, authorities said.

The noninjury fire off North Torrey Pines Road near Torrey Pines Park Road was reported at 12:11 a.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

A helicopter crew made two drops on the fire, putting most of it out by about 1:20 a.m., a SD fire-rescue dispatcher said, adding hand crews put out the remaining hot spots.

The size of the burn area was around 30-by-30 square feet, he said. The cause was under investigation.
