Structure Fire on Ivanhoe Closes Several Businesses

A fire broke out in Mr. Taco on the 7900 block of Ivanhoe Avenue in La Jolla on Thursday afternoon.

Assistant Fire Chief Jeff Carle said the fire that broke out in the rear of on the 7900 block of Ivanhoe on Thursday afternoon is under investigation.

According to San Diego Fire-Rescue, the first arriving engine company found both smoke and fire in the rear of the building. A crew entered the business through the alleyway just after 5 p.m. and the fire was knocked out quickly in Mr. Taco, Carle said. However smoke and fire spread through the heating and air conditioning system in the ceiling to a neighboring business, the , one door over towards Wall Street on Ivanhoe. The walls and droppped down ceiling of Postal Plus were also filled with smoke.

The fire did not enter the rear of the , which is just two doors down from Mr. Taco. However, Carle said a smoke odor was detected in the Post Office.
