SDPD Identify Suspect in Death of Cab Driver in La Jolla

An arrest warrant was issued for Ismael Raul Lopez for his alleged involvement with the shooting death of a cab driver on La Jolla Scenic Drive North in September.

San Diego Police identified a suspect in the Sept. 28 death of a cab driver on La Jolla Scenic Drive North. On Friday, homicide detectives identified Ismael Raul Lopez, 28, as the suspect in the death of Mir Sahou.

Sahou was found on the 8600 block of La Jolla Scenic Drive, across the street from the Adat Yeshurun synagogue.

An area resident reported hearing gunfire, said San Diego police, and a patrol officer who went to investigate found Sahou shot several times.

Witnesses saw the cab pull to the curb of La Jolla Scenic Drive North and two males step out, according to police. There was an alleged exchange of words and a struggle, followed by several gunshots, police reported.

A Northern Division patrol officer located the cab unoccupied at 2:20 a.m., Sept. 29, near the Cove on the 1200 block of Coast Boulevard.

Detectives are asking for the public’s help with locating Lopez. He is described as a Hispanic male, 5 foot 9 and weighing between 160 and 180 pounds.
