Authorities Identify La Jolla Man Killed In Jan. 1 Crash

James F. Cook, 63, died in a car accident on New Year's Day.

Authorities publicly identified the 63-year-old La Jolla man who was killed in a car crash in Linda Vista on New Year's Day.

James F. Cook was driving a 2010 Toyota Prius south in the 2700 block of Genesee Avenue, near Osler Street, at what police said was a high speed when he lost control of the vehicle about 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

The car left the roadway and rolled multiple times, partially ejecting the victim, the Medical Examiner's Office reported. Cook was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital where he died from blunt force chest and neck injuries, according to the Medical Examiner's Office.

The Medical Examiner's Office ruled Cook's death to be accidental.
