Preliminary Hearing Scheduled for 3 Teens Accused in Craiglist Killing Case

A preliminary hearing for Rashon Abernathy, Seandell Jones and Shaquille Jordan, all 17, is scheduled for Aug. 16.

An Aug. 16 preliminary hearing was set Friday for three teens allegedly involved in the May 11 slaying of a La Jolla High graduate after a late-night robbery in Paradise Hills.

Rashon Abernathy, Seandell Jones and Shaquille Jordan, all 17, are accused of posing as sellers on Craigslist and robbing 18-year-old Garrett Berki and his girlfriend, then allegedly shooting Berki to death when he tried to follow their vehicle to get a license plate number.

On May 13, the three pleaded not guilty in adult court to charges related to the slaying and robbery, including gang allegations.

Abernathy, Jones and Jordan are each held on $5 million bail and face 50 years to life in prison if convicted.
