Passengers Evacuate Lindbergh Field For Suspicious Bag

A traveler apparently had simply left the piece of luggage in the area inadvertently.

Part of a terminal at Lindbergh Field was evacuated as a precaution today after an unattended bag was found near a set of escalators, authorities reported.

The discovery of the satchel, which turned out to be harmless, was reported in a pre-security section of Terminal 1 about 2:40 p.m., airport spokesman Steve Shultz said.

Most of the terminal was cleared out while Harbor Police and the San Diego Metro-Arson Strike Team looked over the bag. Authorities declared the area safe shortly after 3:30 p.m., Shultz said.
