Oceanside Man Died Scuba Diving in La Jolla

Jimmy Somphirigna Tanovan, 35, was found dead off La Jolla on Sunday.

Authorities released the name on Monday of an Oceanside man who died over the weekend while scuba diving in La Jolla.

The body of 35-year-old Jimmy Tanovan was found floating near a rocky stretch of shoreline south of about 8:30 p.m. Sunday, according to the Medical Examiner's Office.

A resident of the neighborhood reported having seen Tanovan enter the ocean to dive for lobsters several hours earlier, the county agency reported. Responding emergency personnel arrived and confirmed death without medical intervention. The cause of his death was under investigation.
