A man held a gun to a housekeeper Friday night while he stole valuables from the home.

A man with a rifle got into a La Jolla home and filled a trash bag with valuables while holding the gun on a housekeeper, police said today.

The crime in the 7700 block of Starlight Drive was reported about 10:45 p.m. Friday, San Diego police officer David Stafford said.

The gunman was in the house for about 30 minutes, Stafford said. He was described as a 30-something white man, about 5 feet 9 inches and 140 pounds, with blue eyes. He was wearing blue jeans, a striped shirt and dirty white shoes. Stafford said he may have fled in an older model car with a loud muffler.
