Lifeguards Make 2 Cliff Rescues Saturday

San Diego Lifeguards performed two separate cliff rescues on Saturday at Indian Canyon, just north of the Torrey Pines Gliderport and above Black's Beach in La Jolla.

In the morning, lifeguards rescued a 63 year old man who had gotten off the main trail. He did not require medical aid, according to a San Diego Fire-Rescue spokesman. Lifeguards assisted in getting him back to the trail and back to the top of the cliffs.

Then in the afternoon, a man in his mid-40s suffering heat exhaustion, about 150 feet down the trail, according to the spokesman. Rescues placed the man on a stretcher, secured it with one line and walked with him up to the trailhead. He was transported to the hospital.
