A 63-year-old La Jolla man has been identified as one of two men killed Saturday in a gliding accident at the Jacumba Airport.

Richard Riley Noble "lost control, rapidly decelerated and struck the ground," according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.

Noble and fellow glider, Martin Gary Rothwell, a 54-year-old San Diego man, were pronounced dead at 12:28 p.m. Saturday "without intervention due to obvious fatal trauma."

The report stated that Noble was married.

Editor's Note: This story has been corrected to say it was a gliding, not paragliding, accident.
