La Jolla Couple Found Dead After Family Calls Police

Police said no suspects are being sought, but homicide detectives are investigating.

A husband and wife were found dead in their La Jolla home Wednesday afternoon after police were asked to check on their welfare by a concerned family member, and homicide detectives are investigating the case, according to San Diego police.

The couple—an 81-year-old male and a 77-year-old female—was found in their home in the 8700 block of Caminito Sueno, according to police.  Officers found their home secure, and police said there are no outstanding suspects.

Their identities have been confirmed but not released by the Medical Examiner’s Office. Details about how the couple died were not released by authorities.

Police received a call at approximately 12:18 p.m. from a family member who had become concerned after they could not reach the couple by telephone Wednesday morning. After police found the couple, the Homicide Unit began investigating due to the suspicious nature of their deaths.
