Fire Breaks Out at Daycare Center in Sorrento Valley

San Diego Fire responded to a trash can fire at La Jolla Children's Learning Lab on Pacific Heights Boulevard in Sorrento Valley early Tuesday morning.

A trash can next to a daycare center caught fire early today but no one was hurt and the business appeared to have little damage, authorities said.

The fire just outside the La Jolla Children's Learning Lab at 10068 Pacific Heights Boulevard in Sorrento Valley was reported at 3:03 a.m., according to a San Diego fire-rescue dispatcher.

Flames initially appeared to be coming from inside the daycare's administration building but then crews found the fire burning in a trash can at the back of the center, she said.
