Brush Fire Burns an Area the Size of a Football Field in La Jolla

The Monday evening fire briefly threatened structures, but no homes were lost and no one was injured.

A brush fire near Linda Rosa Avenue and La Jolla Corona Drive in La Jolla may have been started by started by juveniles, according to a fire dispatcher. Authorities said a fire was reported at 7:04 p.m. Monday night and it was declared “knocked down” by 8:15 p.m.

The brush fire reportedly quickly grew to the size of a football field and threatening nearby structures, but no home were lost.

In addition, no one was injured.

Fire investigators were working to determine the cause of the brush fire Tuesday morning.

In other fire news, a fire in a condo on the 12,000 block of Caminito Del Canto in Del Mar was reported Tuesday morning at 9:17 a.m., according to San Diego Fire-Rescue dispatch. The fire was declared out about 20 minutes later.

In Pala, a 300-acre wildfire was reported 60 percent contained Tuesday morning and evacuation orders affecting the resident of nearly 40 homes were lifted, according to authorities.
