Body Found in Cave Appears to Be a Suicide

The county's Medical Examiner's Office reports that "evidence found on his body suggested a suicidal act."

The Medical Examiner's Office reports that evidence found on a body recovered from a cave along the La Jolla shoreline on Monday suggests a suicidal act. Two snorklers found the unidentified white man, who was described by a lifeguard official to be in his 50s, at 4:30 p.m. Monday.

Lifeguards recovered the body and transported it to La Jolla Shores where the Medical Examiner's Office confirmed death. The Medical Examiner's Office said it is attempting to confirm the man's identification through fingerprints, and an autopsy has yet to be scheduled.
