Bank Branch Inside Vons on Girard Robbed

The Wells Fargo was robbed Friday evening by a man with a gun, police say.

San Diego police are investigating an armed robbery of the branch inside the on Girard Ave. Friday evening.

Police received the call at 6:35 p.m., and the suspect was described as a white male, with gray hair and glasses, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, possibly wearing a gray suit and armed with a gun, according to police.

FBI Special Agent Darrell Foxworth said the FBI had not confirmed the robbery was part of the . The Geezer Bandit has hit up more than a dozen banks including two in La Jolla - the San Diego National Bank of the 7800 block of Ivanhoe Avenue in Sept. 2009 and Bank of America on the 7600 block of Girard Avenue in Nov. 2009.

This branch was also robbed on Oct. 21, 2010 by a man who appeared to be in his early to mid-20s.
