Authorities Ask Public for Help in Finding Missing 79-Year-Old Man

The Oceanside Police Department continues its search for Robert Worden, who suffers from dementia and Alzheimer's disease.

The search for a missing 79-year-old man from Oceanside entered its third day Monday, with police saying concerns for his safety were growing.

Robert "Bob'' Worden was last seen at his residence in the 3900 block of North Vista Campana about 6:30 p.m. Saturday, according to Capt. Leonard Mata of the Oceanside Police Department. He suffers from dementia and Alzheimer's disease and is presumed to have walked away from his home, as he does not drive, Mata said.

Worden is about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 180 pounds. He has gray hair and blue eyes and was last seen wearing a long-sleeved blue button-up shirt, gray pants and brown slippers.

The search for Worden has included a dozen police officers and a search and rescue team from San Diego. Authorities have searched the neighborhood and canyon areas in the Mission Avenue and El Camino Real corridor by ground and air.
