Alleged Prostitution Bust Made at Wayne Hotels

Passaic County Sheriff's Office conducted a sweep after receiving complaints from its Text-a-Tip program indicating women were allegedly using rooms for prostitution.

Six women were charged with solicitation of prostitution after the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office conducted a sweep of hotels throughout the county on Wednesday.

The Sheriff’s Office received complaints from its Text-a-Tip program indicating alleged prositition was occurring at several hotels, according to a statement released Thursday by Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik.

Five women were arrested from three hotels, including two in Wayne.

Aschli Victoria, 19, of Laurelton, N.Y. was arrested at the Kings Inn on Route 46. Alexis Troupakies, 22, of New York City, Jessica Copeland, 24, of Bronx, N.Y., and Jamie Proctor, 27, of Lyndhurst, Ohio, were arrested at the FairBridge Inn on Route 46.

The fifth woman, Xu Rong Xia, 29, of China, was arrested at the Howard Johnson Hotel on Route 3 in Clifton. She stated she is living at an unknown location in Flushing, N.Y., the Sheriff's Office said.

All the women, expect for Xia, were charged and released, the Sheriff's Office said. Xia could not be positively identified and could not provide a physical address and was lodged at the Passaic County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bail.

The Passaic County Internet Crime Unit, Bureau of Narcotics and Gang Intelligence Unit conducted the sweep.

“It is essential that prostitution laws are aggressively enforced. Generally speaking, prostitution leads to additional criminal activity such as narcotics trafficking,” Berdnik said in a statement. “I commend the detectives involved in this detail and subsequent arrests.”
