The San Diego Women’s Foundation Announces Environment Focus for 2014 Grants

The women behind the San Diego Women’s Foundation are proud to call our beautiful and vibrant community home. Yet they also know that healthy environmental resources are the mainstay and building blocks for a prosperous San Diego region.

That’s why the foundation has announced its 2014 grant making focus area will be environment, and why the topic will be at the center of its upcoming grants kick-off event on September 25.  The event will be held from 5:30 -8:30 at SDG&E Energy Innovation Center, 4760 Clairemont Mesa Blvd., San Diego, CA 92117, and will feature guest speaker, Lani Lutar, Executive Director of The Equinox Center, an independent organization that advances innovative solutions to balance regional growth with our finite natural resources.

She will educate us on the critical environmental factors impacting us both individually and as a region. The evening will also include interactive experiences focused on ways to protect and sustain our environment.

“We strongly believe that healthy environmental resources are the key to maintaining a healthy lifestyle, a thriving economy, and growth.  Water conservation and quality is central to our grantmaking this year and it is critical we take action to conserve and protect the quality to ensure we have enough for present and future use,” said AJ Frank, president of the San Diego Women’s Foundation.”We have no doubt that our model of pooled philanthropy will create true results in this critical area, proving once again our core belief that, together, women can do more than woman.”

The interactive event on September 25 begins at 5:30 with a reception for members, as well as guests interested in learning more about the foundation. The kick-off will be held at SDG&E Energy Innovation Center, 4760 Clairemont Mesa Blvd. in San Diego.

All are welcome to attend, and are asked to RSVP by September 21 to Bridget Strickland at bridget@sdfoundation.org or 619-814-1351.
