Many families are looking for ways to cut costs right now, but one of the great benefits of living a thriftier lifestyle is that you absolutely don’t have to do without some great family entertainment. The trick is to wait until you find a deal for some of the local attractions that you’ve been wanting to visit, because nearly everything goes on sale at some point.

1. Free Chinese New Year Celebration for Kids
The Dove Library in Carlsbad is helping kids in grades K-5 celebrate the Chinese New Year by hosting a free event with fun activities and facts about China. While this event is free, you do have to register ahead of time and space is limited. What a great way to help teach kids about the Chinese culture! The event is Feb. 17 at 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
2. $1.25 Fish Tacos at Rubios on Tuesdays
Every Tuesday, Rubios puts their fish tacos on sale for only $1.25 from 2:30 p.m. until closing time. My family takes advantage of this great deal all the time—the kids love it, and I get a break from cooking without spending much more than it would cost me to cook at home.
