James Alfred Babcock died Sept. 13, according to a U-T San Diego obituary.
He was 88.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and lived in La Jolla where he was a member of the La Jolla Country Club, according to the newspaper.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29 at Torrey Pines Christian Church, according to the newspaper.
