LeAnn Rimes to Headline Symphony at Salk in La Jolla

Grammy award-winning country-pop star LeAnn Rimes will play Salk Institute's annual outdoor concert celebration and fundraiser in August.

Country-pop artist LeAnn Rimes will perform with the San Diego Symphony and guest conductor Thomas Wilkins for one special performance this summer here in La Jolla.

The 17th annual Symphony at Salk-A Concert Under the Stars is a concert and fundraiser to support the biological research at the Salk Institute and its community education programs. The big night is scheduled for August 25.

Tickets for the event go on sale Saturday. You can purchase tickets online or by calling 858-453-4100, ext. 1491. Ticket prices are $250 for individual tickets and sponsorship packages range from $2,500 to $75,000.

Rimes has two Grammys, three Academy of Country Music Awards, 12 Billboard Music Awards, and sold over 40 million records worldwide.

The Salk Institute said, “Wilkins returns for his eighth successive year as guest conductor, giving the symphony and audience members another opportunity to enjoy the special energy he brings to every performance.”

Wilkins is the principal guest conductor of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra.
