La Jolla Secret Garden Tour 2012 - A Beautiful Day Behind the Gates

La Jolla's Secret Garden Tour featured some of the best mature gardens from a variety of La Jolla's most beautiful neigborhoods to benefit the La Jolla Historical Society.

The La Jolla Secret Garden tour is the biggest annual fundraiser for the La Jolla Historical Society. This year's tour featured some of the best mature gardens from Lower Hermosa, WindnSea, Beach Barber Tract, Mount Soledad and the Village. At each home, visitors were surrounded by lush landscape, tabletop designs, music wafting through the air and artists at work.

Tour highlights included a stunning Spanish Colonial Revival home that was built in 1915-16 and was surrounded by plantings believed to have been by Kate Sessions. A home on Virgina Way was once home to one of La Jolla's most dedicated preservationists - Patricia Schaelchin. And a home built in 1958 on the famed Camino de la Costa featured sweeping coastline views and a fine succulent garden that framed a massive kidney shaped pool.
