Your Lineup Guide To Enjoying a Padres Game at Petco Park

A great guide to enjoying a Padres game at Petco Park during the summer

Summer is near and baseball is in full swing, literally. There’s no better way to enjoy a beautiful San Diego day than going to the ballpark and watching 100-MPH fastballs go into a catcher’s mitt.

The Padres’ Petco Park offers one of the most beautiful sights in all of baseball. Their new right-field pavillion gives fans a closer view of the field and homeruns.

Here’s a short guide to enjoying the best things about baseball in San Diego:

Prepare for a long night

Before you even leave your home, make sure you prepare yourself for a long day. Most games go up to three hours long. Prepare yourself mentally and physically. Baseball is a long sport that can take a toll on you in every way. Check the weather forecasts to see if you’ll need a sweater or sunscreen,

Arrive early

Homeruns aren’t guaranteed in any game. All MLB parks allow early entrance into the stadium to watch batting practice. This will be your best chance to mingle with the stars as they are in a more relaxed mood and usually sign autographs for the early comers. In order to ensure you arrive early, check out this San Diego parking map that will help you find parking easily.

Eat something great

One great thing about baseball is the hot dogs. Nothing goes better with a hot dog than a soft drink and some peanuts. If you’re looking for something a bit more delicious, check out Hadad’s. Hadad’s Ocean Beach restaurant was voted one of the best in the country recently and they have a location inside Petco Park.

Bring a seat cushion

Sitting for too long can be tough. Luckily, a seat cushion can help alleviate any pain from the few hours you’ll be on your seat all game long.

Cheer on

Many people who have never been to a baseball game say the “wave” is a joke. False. The wave is cheered upon by thousands at every baseball park in the country. It’s a tradition that goes around, literally in the ballpark.

Game ended? No problem

The great thing about Petco Park is its close proximity to the Gaslamp Quarter. There are plenty of bars and lounges that can provide after-game festivities for you and your group.
