Blog: Republicans Want To Win In the Worst Way

Will Republicans dump the tea overboard, and help solve our common problems: the national debt, poverty, and unemployment?

During Obama’s first four years, Republicans said “No” to every proposal, refused to compromise, signed a pledge not to increase taxes, and did everything they legally could to make Obama a one term president. Now they cry because Obama’s second term inaugural address was not “inclusive.” How outrageous!

Republican hubris is exceeded only by their Tea Party’s stupidity.

With only a slight crack in their armor, Republicans have continued their attacks on the President, fighting any proposal to:

  • Reduce the size of government – make it “small enough to drown in a bathtub,” says Grover Norquist
  • Eliminate Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid
  • Eliminate labor unions
  • Eliminate subsidies for 47% of Americans; increase subsidies for the rich

Will they ever learn? Will they ever win? Will Republican centrists try to educate Tea Party members in Congress? Will they dump the tea overboard, and help solve our common problems: the national debt, poverty, and unemployment? Will Republicans put up candidates with fiscally conservative values rather than obstructionist, separatist, fanatically religious, Southern, Tea Party values?

The populist proposals Obama talked about in his inaugural address are far more American than the obstructionist tendencies of the Tea Party. If you are against all of the President’s proposals, I hope you join the Tea Party on their cruise to oblivion. As they did in the recent election, Republicans who think they can win a national election with “Tea Party” thinking will lose next time, and the next, and the next.

Stop this ridiculous, uncivil war. Find ways we can communicate, cooperate, compromise and live with our political differences – without the hate and fear.
