How To Recycle Your Christmas Tree in San Diego

Drop off locations include Kate Sessions Memorial Park in PB, Carmel Valley Recreaiton Center and Swanson Pool in University City.

After giving out all those Christmas gifts, give back to Mother Earth. The County of San Diego and I Love A Clean San Diego urge residents to recycle their Christmas tree this year.

Drop off locations in our area include Kate Sessions Memorial Park at Soledad Road and Loring Street in Pacific Beach, Carmel Valley Recreation Center at 3777 Townsgate Dr. and Swanson Pool at 3585 Governor Dr. in University City.

I Love A Clean San Diego said throwing away holiday tree needlessly wastes a natural resource and decreases the capacity of local landfills.

In addition, the city of San Diego offers curbside pickup of trees with yard waste on regular collection days.

The city provided the following guidelines:

  • Manual container customers using their own bins should place trees on the curb for collection on your regular greenery recycling pickup day. Trees over four feet in length should be cut in half.
  • Automated container customers using the large, green 96-gallon bin provided by the city should cut their trees to fit into the automated container for pickup on collection day.
