“Fashion that Heals” presented by Tri-City Foundation and featuring Saks Fifth Avenue of South Coast Plaza takes center court on Thursday, July 19 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad. This is the first year for the event, which is being hosted by Tri-City Hospital Foundation in conjunction with the Mercury Insurance Open to benefit women’s health programs at Tri-City Medical Center.
The fashionable affair, co-chaired by board member Dawn Hall Cunneen and community leader Valerie Lindholm, will feature a cocktail reception, silent auction and runway event showcasing designer looks from Saks Fifth Avenue. In addition, the event will include a special presentation on the prevention, early detection and treatment of disease through the use of global healing traditions by Mimi Guarneri, M.D., renowned cardiologist and national leader in the field of integrative medicine.
“Women are the backbone of our families and our communities, and when they need medical treatment, they deserve the best in terms of facilities, equipment and personnel,” said Tobi Ferguson, president of Tri-City Hospital Foundation. “From our world-class staff and physicians to our leading edge-technology to the unparalleled programs offered at our Wellness Center, our approach to women’s health at Tri-City will always be in fashion.”
”Fashion that Heals” is set to complement the Mercury Insurance Open presented by Tri-City Medical Center, which will take place July 14-22, also at La Costa Resort and Spa. The annual tennis tournament features some of the best women’s tennis players in the world in a 28-player singles draw and a 16-team doubles draw.
"Tri-City's mission is to improve the health and wellness of our community," said Larry Anderson, CEO of Tri-City Medical Center. "Partnering with such a wonderful, international sporting event gives us a great opportunity to convey the message to everyone we serve that we are dedicated to helping them lead healthy, active lives."
"The Mercury Insurance Open is very grateful to have a world-class healthcare institution like Tri-City Medical Center as presenting sponsor, said Steve Simon, tournament director. “We are very much looking forward to Fashion that Heals, which will benefit the hospital’s efforts to promote and protect women’s health.”
