Bone Marrow Donor Drive

Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation will hold a donor recruitment drive to register potential bone marrow donors for its worldwide registry at Congregation Beth El during their Mighty Mitzvah Sunday. The drive will benefit patients suffering from various blood cancers and diseases who are in need of a bone marrow transplant. The event, scheduled on October 30th, will run from 9:00 AM-12:30 PM.

Donor drives benefit patients like Ezra, a two year old from New Jersey. He has a rare primary immune deficiency called Hyper IgM Syndrome and the only cure is a bone marrow transplant. Ezra, and other patients like him, needs to find a donor that is his perfect match. That perfect match could be YOU.

Make a difference in the community. Other projects include sewing and stuffing pillows for breast cancer patients, blood donation, making crafts for soldiers and seniors, and sort and stocking food at the local food pantry. Projects will benefit at-risk youth, the working poor, US military servicemen and women overseas, the hungry, homebound seniors, and those who have been diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses.

If you are between the ages of 18 and 60 and in general good health, you are eligible to be screened and join the worldwide registry for patients in need. A simple swab from the inside of your cheek is all it takes to determine if you are a match.
