The Gillispie School hosted its "Let it Shine" 60th Anniversary Gala on May 4 at The New Children's Museum in downtown San Diego. Chaired by Gillispie parent Kelly Kjos, the evening featured dancing and live music by The Heroes and Ryan Hiller, and included a cocktail reception, seated dinner by Giuseppe, and a live auction emceed by alumni parent Todd Duncan.

A highlight of the evening was the 60th Anniversary Gala video, featuring footage recovered from reel to reel tape of the history of the school, current students talking about the number 60, and the Grade 6 graduating class doing their own rendition of the Harlem Shake.

This year is The Gillispie School's 60th year of instruction in La Jolla, and the Gala acknowledged the efforts of all Gillispie faculty, staff, friends, and Alumni, past and present.
