Bach Collegium Presents Dublin 'Messiah' at St. James by-the-Sea

On Monday, Dec. 9, Bach Collegium San Diego will present the rarely heard Dublin Version of Handel's holiday classic Messiah, at St. James by-the-Sea Episcopal Church in La Jolla. These are the only performances of the complete Messiah in San Diego this season, and the only Messiah performed in San Diego with period instruments.

Immediately following those performances, Bach Collegium San Diego leaves for its New York City debut on Dec. 14. The company will perform "In Dulci Jubilo," a Christmas Vespers featuring the music of Michael Praetorius, with special guests TENET NYC and Dark Horse Consort, at the Park Avenue Christian Church in New York City. That program will be repeated in San Diego on Friday, Dec. 20, at St. James by-the-Sea Episcopal Church as part of the Da Camera Society Chamber Music in Historic Sites program.

These performances and Bach Collegium's New York City debut mark another important milestone in the history of this ensemble that has been on the cutting edge of early and Baroque music performance in Southern California for more than a decade.

Tickets to individual concerts are $25 or $40. Senior/Student discount is $20. Rush tickets may be purchased at the door for $10 if any seats are still available (student ID required).
