Albert Einstein Academies 12th Annual Lantern Festival

It’s that time of year again! Albert Einstein Academies (AEA) is holding its 12th annual Lantern Festival, celebrating a 100-year-old German tradition. As AEA emphasizes German language studies and hosts a yearly German exchange program, this celebration offers AEA’s students, staff and community members the opportunity to learn more about the lively German culture.

Attendees will enjoy entertainment from the German Cultural Committee, traditional German food, games, activity booths, inflatable jumpers and a vendor market known as Martinsmarkt. The night will end with a traditional lantern walk around the South Park neighborhood with kids and their parents carrying their hand-made lanterns, singing traditional German lantern songs. This year, AEA’s middle school students will be able to enjoy more fun activities including a photo booth and video game truck for all ages to participate in this timeless AEA tradition.

Stop by AEA’s campus at 3035 Ash Street in South Park to join in the festivities and visit http://www.foaea.org/events/lantern/ for more information on this year’s Lantern Festival.

Lastly, in the spirit of Saint Martin’s gift to a coatless beggar, AEA will be collecting gently used coats and blankets days before and during the Lantern Festival for those in need.
