Take a Break from the Shores and Head to an Indian Reservation Overnight Adventure

A summer side trip and Indian campground educational opportunity for the entire family to enjoy. The La Jolla Indian Reservation campground offers a rustic, affordable and local summertime getaway.

If you are looking for an affordable and rustic camping experience only a simple cruise inland, a must do this summer is the La Jolla Indian Reservation Campground.  Since the 1940’s, this little treasure has been open and is only one hour northeast of the beach where you and your family can enjoy the simplicity of camping and tubing down the San Luis Ray River running through the campground and fed by National Springs.

Soak in nature and the peace and warmth of the summer evenings under the stars.  All of your necessities for a one to two night stay and barbecue on the river are available at the La Jolla Trading Post store (1/2 mile from the campground check-in) – like firewood, cold drinks, and those last minute items that you left at home.  Prices are not inflated so a last minute trip is easy to accommodate.

Nestled in the valley of Chaperral Land and hills in the south facing foot hills of Mount Palomar, you are sure to enjoy the Oak trees, wild flowers and other indigenous plants.  Red tail hawks and rabbits are a common site.
