What Do Dating and Surfing Have in Common?

A couple of local surfer chicks are about to tell you with the launch of their new book - EVERYTHING I Know About DATING I Learned Through SURFING!

On a personal level I find it impossible to take surfing too seriously, for one, it’s way too much fun and besides, I’m nowhere near good enough!

Recently I noticed a Facebook user – EVERYTHING I Know About DATING I Learned Through SURFING’posting a bunch of comments on various Facebook pages that I spend far too much time looking at.  At first glance I couldn’t help but wonder what on earth this was. And then as this local author team was looking for a launch venue I was introduced to one half of the duo, Nancy Bsharah, and realized this book is pure fun and a bit of a tongue in cheek look at the dating world in relation to the sport so many of us love!

EVERYTHING I Know About DATING I Learned Through SURFING is a beautifully illustrated book filled with nuggets like, “Don’t always believe the surf report. Get out there and judge the waves for yourself” and “Trust your gut when it’s time
 to bail.”

Authors, athletes, entrepreneurs and surf buddies Nancy Bsharah and Tara Brouwer share tips, anecdotes and a few embarrassing but comical stories about their life in the competitive world of dating.

“I learned how to surf in my mid 30s, was newly single and new to surfing,” said Bsharah. “I was struck by how all of the surfing tips I was receiving sounded like dating advice as well. So I started keeping a journal, joking that someday I’d have enough quotes to write a book,” she said.
