Oktoberfest at the Green Flash Brewing Co.

Green Flash Brewing Co. has joined forces with local food tent favorite, Swieners to celebrate their first annual Oktoberfest on Sunday, September 30th from noon to 6 p.m. This free event is a traditional, family-friendly ‘fest complete with a seasonally appropriate selection of Green Flash craft beer on tap in the Tasting Room, outdoor games for young and old, a live performance, costume contest and plenty of local foodie favorites from Sweiners and other food vendors to appeal to all guests. This Sunday afternoon activity will pay homage to some of the German festival’s favorite traditions and San Diegans a craft brewing destination to enjoy the occasion.

The brewery’s outdoor area will be transformed into a traditional “Biergaarten” featuring Sweiners food tents serving up more than just their usual fare - Swieners will be cooking up their famous brats along with the addition of delicious deserts. The outdoor “Food Village” will also include authentic Bavarian soft pretzels from the San Diego Pretzel Company, internal cheese selection from farmers market favorite’s, Taste Cheese and local mustard connoisseurs, SoNo Trading Company are joining the party with their flavor filled offerings. A limited-edition Green Flash Oktoberfest Stein will be available along with the Fest & Fall Beers, special Cask offerings & the rest of the Green Flash beer line up. 

Local Oktoberfest-style act, Raving Polka will be entertaining throughout the afternoon - hosting traditional games and will emcee a festival-inspired costume contest (so - break out the Lederhosen and Heidi corsets). Kinder-guests can wander through the blue and white clothed picnic tables at the festival enjoying a variety of age-appropriate activities such as mask making and face painting in between snacking and participating in the interactive musical sets.

Traditionally a 16-day festival running from late September and ending the first weekend in October, Oktoberfest is one of the best known beer festivals on the planet with over five million people attending the main event in Munich annually. While Green Flash expects a considerably more intimate crowd – the event offers the perfect excuse to celebrate food and drink with family and friends on a Sunday afternoon.
