Have you dreamed of walking along the Scripps Pier?
Your dreams will come true this summer.
Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography will open the pier on select dates for a moonlit walk.
Aquarium naturalists will guide walkers on the 1,090 foot concrete pier under the stars.
Walkers will experience science, learn about the pier’s history, dissect a squid, make marine organisms glow in the dark, collect plankton, observe ocean conditions and study the nocturnal habits of marine life.
The first moonlit walk will feature a Super Moon which is when the moon is at its closest point to Earth during the year. The first summer pier walk will leave at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 22.
Scripps Pier will be open on select dates:
June 22, July 21 to 22 and Aug. 20 to 21 from 7 to 9:30 p.m.
Sept. 19 to 20 and Oct. 18 to 19 from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
Tickets will be $22 for members and $25 for non-members.
