New Goodwill Donation Center Opens in La Jolla

The box of items to donate that never seems to make it out of your car now has a new place to go: the Goodwill Donation Center on Girard Avenue.

The new center at 7631 Girard Ave. is now open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week in the back of a future Goodwill store scheduled to open June 27.

“This first step in the La Jolla area is very, very exciting”  Vice President of Operations Beth Forsberg said in a statement. "We have been hoping to find an appropriate retail space for the last decade, and feel very fortunate to have found this site. ...Until now, our donors had to drive up to our University City Bookstore at Genesee and Nobel Dr., or to our stores in Pacific Beach or Clairemont."

The center accepts clean, reusable clothing and gently used household goods and collectibles. People who donate can get a tax receipt for the items they bring in.
