Ring in the new year with the sound of music. La Jolla Music Society’s will present the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra.
The Orchestra is known for performing Baroque, Classical and early-Romantic styles of music.
Under the musical direction of Nicholas McGegan, the orchestra was named Musical America’s 2004 Ensemble of the Year. Their second album was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Orchestral Performance.
The musical program will feature its own professional chorus called the Philharmonia Chorale with special guest artists.
Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra performance will be at Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego's Sherwood Auditorium on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 8 p.m.
A prelude will start at 7 p.m. with a lecture given by Ruben Valenzuela, the Artistic Director of the Bach Collegium. The lecture will highlight composers in the orchestra.
