The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department teamed up with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves to bring toys to children through Toys for Tots this holiday season. Drop off new, unwrapped toys for children of all ages at any San Diego fire or lifeguard station through Dec. 20.
"We are glad to do our part to help the Marine Reservist bring a smile to the faces of children at the holidays," said Fire Chief Javier Mainar in an announcement. "The credit all belongs with Toys for Tots. If we can make it easier for someone to get to a donation point because a fire station or a lifeguard station is in their neighborhood, then that's the least we can do."
Toys for Tots delivers toys to children in less fortunate families.
Toys can be dropped off between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., daily at fire stations and until dusk at lifeguard stations.
Local stations collecting toys include:
- La Jolla Shores lifeguard station
- La Jolla Cove lifeguard station
- Children's Pool
- Fire Station 9 at 7870 Ardath Lane
- Fire Station 13 at 809 Nautilus St.
- Fire Station 16 at 2110 Via Casa Alta
- Fire Station 35 at 4285 Eastgate Mall
