The are back in California for their annual “run.” is offering up chances throughout the grunion season to see these amazing and mysterious fish and their journey of laying eggs on the beach.

From April to early June, female grunion bury themselves half-way in the sand to lay eggs, while males wrap themselves protectively around the females to fertilize their eggs. Both catch a wave to return to sea.
