Accident Snarls Holiday Traffic on the 805

One person was hospitalized after being struck by a car on the 805, closing two lanes and triggering a Sigalert Monday afternoon.

Holiday traffic on Interstate 805 was backed up Monday afternoon when a person was struck by a car while standing outside a vehicle stopped on the interstate, authorities said.

A Chrysler 300 struck the pedestrian in the southbound lanes between state Route 15 and Home Avenue AT about 4:45 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

One person was taken to a hospital, a San Diego Fire-Rescue Department dispatcher said.

Authorities closed the two right southbound lanes following the crash and a SigAlert was issued, according to the CHP.
