$3 Day at the Fair June 14

Buy your $3 admission ticket at Albertsons/Sav-On before heading to the fair. No $3 admission tickets will be sold at the gates.

Come to the 2011 San Diego County Fair, presented by Albertsons/Sav-on, on Tuesday, June 14, for just $3. That’s it. Just $3 and stay all day. Here’s how:

Buy your $3 admission ticket at Albertsons/Sav-On ($5 minimum purchase required with Albertsons Preferred Card). No tickets will be sold at the Fair on this day; these tickets are sold only at Albertsons/Sav-On. The closest Albertson's locations for La Jollans are in Pacific Beach at 730 Turquoise St. and in Clairemont at 5950 Balboa Avenue.

$3 Tuesday is also Kids’ Day! All kids 12 and younger are admitted free.

Park for free at Horsepark, on the corner of Via de la Valle and El Camino Real, east of Interstate 5. Round trip shuttle ride is free.

Bring your lunch, and dinner, too. No sharp utensils, no alcohol, and all beverages must be in factory-sealed containers. (You can bring an empty container, such as a sippy cup, and fill it once you're past Security.) Fair staff can even hold your lunch for you in Guest Services, first floor of the Grandstand, until you're ready to eat at one of the designated picnic areas.

There’s free entertainment all day and long into the evenings on eight stages, plus the Charity Fair Horse Show in the Chevrolet Del Mar Arena. On Tuesday, June 14, the Toyota Summer Concert Series on the Heineken Grandstand Stage will have the comedy of Bill Engvall. The show is free with Fair admission for unreserved seats.

There’s plenty of "window shopping" to explore in Bing Crosby Hall, and other exhibit halls. Also, the Fair has many exhibits that display the best work of San Diego County bakers, needlecrafters, gardeners and craftspeople, and that is all free with admission. Don't miss the Fair's theme exhibit, "Cruisin' California," where muscle cars and tuners will be on display.

For more information about the Fair and the activities on June 14, go to sdfair.com. Daily schedules are posted in the events section.

The theme for this year's Fair is everything about cars. In addition, the Fair will have more than 100 food vendors, commercial exhibitors, rides and attractions, the Paul Ecke Jr. Flower and Garden Show, and a full lineup of headliner entertainment.

Gates open daily at 11 a.m., Tuesdays through Fridays, and 10 a.m., Saturdays, Sundays and Monday, July 4. Admission is $13 for adults; $7 for ages 6-12 and 62 and older; and free for ages 5 and younger.
